Hubert R. Shafer 1917-1988

I used this picture a few days ago on a post because I didn't know who it was and thought it was an interesting picture.  Since then, Mr. Shafer has been identified, thanks to my husband and his brother.

Hubert R. Shafer (or Shaffer) born 25 September 1917 in Indiana.  Enlisted in the U.S. Army 29 June 1945.  Owned Shafer's Phillips 66 Station in Richmond, Indiana.  Played guitar.  Wife, Mary Davis.  Had at least one child, a daughter.  Died 28 January 1988 in Richmond, Indiana.  Buried in Earlham Cemetery, Richmond.

As I've said before, it is amazing what you kind find with just a few clues.
